Martian Crater Shows Evidence of Dried Pond
This Martian crater, photographed by the Mars Global Surveyor, shows features that suggest it once held a pond. While evidence for ancient flowing water on Mars has been found, dried pools are less common. Islands and bays on the crater floor indicate an accumulation of liquid, a hypothesis consistent with channels found nearby.
