COSMIC MESSAGE
Fifteen thousand years ago, a star in Cygnus exploded, leaving behind the Cygnus Loop. This supernova remnant is still expanding. Its shockwave collides with interstellar gas, heating it and causing it to glow in visible light and X-rays. The nebula is about 2,500 light-years away.
