NGC 6210: The "Turtle in Space" Planetary Nebula
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Planetary nebula NGC 6210 may look like a giant space turtle, but it is much more massive and violent. This gas cloud in Hercules is about 6500 light years away. The Hubble Space Telescope investigated NGC 6210 because it showed unusual abundances of nebular gas. The image shows hot gas jets streaming through holes in an older, cooler shell of gas.
