Seven Leonids Over Wise Observatory
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The 1998 Leonid meteor shower delivered a deluge of meteors in some locations, particularly over Israel. This picture, taken early on November 17, shows at least seven Leonid meteors streaking across the sky in just a few minutes, above the Wise Observatory dome. The Earth's rotation causes the background stars to appear as arcs during the long exposure.
