COSMIC MESSAGE
The Arecibo radio telescope, a 305-meter dish built into a Puerto Rican valley, has been observing the cosmos since 1963. It is the largest single-dish telescope in the world. Arecibo has been used to map gas in our galaxy and the universe, and to study pulsars. It can also bounce radio waves off planets and record the reflections.
