Plains and Ridges on Europa

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The ridges on Europa might be caused by cryovolcanoes. Europa, one of Jupiter's large moons, has been intensely studied due to speculation about subsurface oceans. The Galileo spacecraft, currently orbiting Jupiter, is on an extended mission to study Europa's surface in more detail. This image shows common features: blue water ice beneath light ridges that stretch for many kilometers.
