COSMIC MESSAGE

This image of spiral galaxy NGC 2997 was taken by Antu, the first of the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescopes in Chile. The galaxy is tilted at about 45 degrees, showing a bright, compact nucleus and prominent lanes of dark dust. NGC 2997 is about 30 million light-years away in the constellation Antlia.
