COSMIC MESSAGE
Every spring, amateur astronomers try to spot all 110 deep-sky objects in Charles Messier's catalog. This photo captures the spirit of that search. Messier was a comet hunter in the 1700s, but kept finding things that weren't comets. His catalog helped him avoid confusion, and now helps us find some of the most beautiful objects in the night sky.
