This view of stars, nebulae, and the Milky Way comes from the dark night sky above La Palma in the Canary Islands. The picture was made by astrophotographers taking advantage of the ideal observing conditions near La Palma's Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos. This wide-angle time exposure covers about 40 degrees of the winter sky, capturing many favorite astronomical objects.
