Light From The Dark Sun

NASA APOD · Pavel and Roman Cagas
COSMIC MESSAGE

During a total solar eclipse, the Sun's outer atmosphere, the corona, becomes visible from Earth. Normally, the bright solar disk overwhelms its light. This series of images from Siofok, Hungary, shows the corona's subtle details and wide range of brightness. They were recorded during the total phase of the August 11, 1999, eclipse.
