COSMIC MESSAGE

The Andromeda Galaxy, also known as M31, is the closest major galaxy to our own Milky Way. This diffuse light is from hundreds of billions of stars, and it's thought to look much like our own galaxy. The distinct stars around Andromeda are actually stars in our galaxy, much closer to us.
