The Far Infrared Sky

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Three major sources contribute to the far-infrared sky: our Solar System, our Galaxy, and our Universe. This image is the highest resolution projection yet created of the entire far-infrared sky, from 60 to 240 microns. It was created from years of observations by the COBE spacecraft. Our Solar System is most prominent, with an S-shaped blue sash of zodiacal light created by dust orbiting between the planets.
