COSMIC MESSAGE

In August, skywatchers observed a coincidence: bright aurorae occurred during the Perseid Meteor Shower. This picture, taken on August 12, captures both eerie aurorae and a faint Perseid meteor above Cross Lake in Wisconsin. Aurorae are becoming more common as the Sun approaches its period of highest activity in its eleven-year magnetic cycle.
