COSMIC MESSAGE
NGC 1300 is a large spiral galaxy, about 75 million light-years distant. Its appearance is dominated by a huge bar that spans over 150,000 light-years across the galaxy's center. We know how fast different parts of the galaxy rotate, but the specific orbits of its stars and their interaction with the bar are still being studied.
