COSMIC MESSAGE
The Andromeda Galaxy, M31, is the closest large spiral galaxy to our own, about two and a half million light-years away. It is so big and bright that you can see it with your unaided eye, even from a light-polluted city. This digital mosaic shows its bright yellow nucleus, dark dust lanes, and blue spiral arms. It is located in the constellation Andromeda.
