Approaching the International Space Station

COSMIC MESSAGE
In September 2000, the Space Shuttle Atlantis approached the developing International Space Station (ISS). The crew saw the station as it then existed: the Progress supply module, the Zvezda service module, the Zarya cargo module, and the Unity connecting module. This was the first time astronauts saw the station after the remote-controlled additions of Progress and Zvezda. Flat solar panels extended from some of the modules.
