In 1979, the Voyager 1 spacecraft captured this time-lapse sequence as it approached Jupiter. It shows the rotation of the Great Red Spot and the swirling of neighboring clouds over several days. Voyager 1 made many discoveries during its flyby, including previously unknown cloud patterns.
