Wild Duck Open Cluster M11

COSMIC MESSAGE

The Wild Duck Open Cluster, M11, contains thousands of stars, about 3,000 light-years away. All the stars in this cluster formed together about 150 million years ago, and the bright young stars appear blue. Open clusters like M11 generally reside in the plane of our galaxy. They contain fewer and younger stars than globular clusters.
