Manicouagan Impact Crater on Earth

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Manicouagan Crater in northern Canada is one of Earth's oldest impact craters. Formed about 200 million years ago, the present-day terrain features a 70-kilometer diameter hydroelectric reservoir, visible as an annular lake. Glaciers and erosion have worn away parts of the crater, but the hard rock preserves much of its complex impact structure.
