NGC 1410/1409: Intergalactic Pipeline

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

These two galaxies, NGC 1410 and NGC 1409, are connected by a dark, dusty 'pipeline' of material. The pipeline stretches over 20,000 light-years between them, silhouetted against background starlight. Located about 300 million light-years away in Taurus, this structure is likely a result of a recent collision between the two galaxies, which drew out the material.
