The Ant Nebula, Mz3, is a planetary nebula, gas cast off by a dying star similar to our Sun. Yet, its shape is far from the expected sphere. Astronomers speculate a hidden companion star or magnetic fields from the central star might be shaping the gas, which is expanding at 1,000 kilometers per second.
