A Yukon Aurora

COSMIC MESSAGE

Last week was another active period for auroras, following two large Coronal Mass Ejections from the Sun. Waves of particles and ions swept past Earth on September 28 and 29, causing many auroras. A week later, a flapping sheet dividing the Sun's magnetic field regions passed Earth, again triggering auroras. This image captures one of the particularly good northern lights from October, taken in Canada's Yukon territory.
