The NEAR-Shoemaker spacecraft visited asteroid Eros, providing detailed images of its surface. This image shows large rocks scattered across the asteroid. After arriving at Eros in February 2000, the probe eventually made a controlled landing on its surface. Scientists are still analyzing the data and images, trying to understand how these features formed on the ancient asteroid.
