Auroras can appear as nearly mirror images over both Earth's poles. This phenomenon was confirmed by detailed images from NASA's Polar spacecraft. This time-lapse movie shows simultaneous changes in the aurora borealis at the top and the aurora australis at the bottom. These auroras were created by a cloud of electrons and ions released from the Sun during a solar explosion on October 22.
