The Belt of Venus

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Just before sunrise or after sunset, a pink band appears above the horizon, called the Belt of Venus. This band is visible in the direction opposite the Sun during twilight. It is sunlight reflecting off the atmosphere, but the lower angle and scattering create this distinct hue between the dark sky and the blue sky above.
