COSMIC MESSAGE
NGC 2244 is a bright open cluster of stars located at the heart of the Rosette Nebula. These stars formed only four million years ago from the surrounding gas. Their intense light and stellar winds ionize the hydrogen gas, creating the nebula's red emission glow. The cluster's activity defines the nebula's complex appearance.
