COSMIC MESSAGE

Venus and Mars, named for the Roman gods of love and war, appear close together in this sky view. The photo was taken on May 14th from Dunkirk, Maryland, and shows the planets near a crescent moon. Earthshine illuminates the dark part of the moon. Venus is the third brightest object in Earth's sky, after the Sun and Moon.
