COSMIC MESSAGE
M17, known as the Omega or Swan Nebula, is a region in Sagittarius where stars are actively forming. Thick clouds of carbon-based dust absorb background starlight, creating dark molecular clouds. As massive new stars form, their intense light slowly boils away the surrounding gas and dust.
