Moon Shadow Moves Over Africa

NASA APOD · EUMETSAT
COSMIC MESSAGE

Last week, the Moon's shadow touched Earth during a solar eclipse. The total eclipse was visible along a narrow path where the Moon's dark central shadow, the umbra, fell. Moving at nearly 2000 kilometers per hour, the umbra crossed parts of Africa and Australia, with totality lasting about two minutes in any given location.
