In December 1972, Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt spent 75 hours on the Moon in the Taurus-Littrow valley. This picture, taken by Schmitt, shows Cernan flanked by an American flag and their lunar rover's antenna. The prominent Sculptured Hills are in the background, and Schmitt's reflection is visible in Cernan's visor.
