COSMIC MESSAGE
This view of Earth's Southern Hemisphere near the start of summer was created using images from the Galileo spacecraft. It's a mosaic, pieced together from pictures taken over a 24-hour period in December 1990. The South Pole is dramatically centered, and the entire hemisphere appears bathed in sunlight. South America is visible on the middle left.
