Stars and Dust Through Baade's Window
NASA APOD · AAO
COSMIC MESSAGE
This image looks through Baade's Window, a relatively clear area of sky that offers a view toward the center of our Milky Way Galaxy. Billions of stars are visible, mostly old, reddish stars that make up the bulk of the galaxy's central bulge. Interstellar dust typically obscures the galactic center in visible light, but Baade's Window provides a rare glimpse into this dense region.
