A Lenticular Cloud Over New Hampshire

NASA APOD · J. D. Rufo, J. Koermer, Plymouth State College
COSMIC MESSAGE

These unusual clouds, stacked one on top of another, are called lenticular clouds. They form when strong winds encounter mountains or hills, causing vertical oscillations in the air. As the air stabilizes, moisture condenses at different layers, creating these distinctive, lens-shaped formations over places like New Hampshire.
