The Holographic Principle

NASA APOD · E. Winfree, K. Fleischer, A. Barr et al. (Caltech)
COSMIC MESSAGE

How much information can an image hold? The Holographic Principle suggests there's a maximum amount, not based on volume, but on the area of the surface next to it. For a computer monitor, that's about 3 x 10^65 bits. This unproven principle challenges our intuition about information storage in the universe.
