SNR 0103-72.6: Oxygen Supply

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

A supernova explosion, the spectacular end of a massive star, blasts debris enriched in heavy elements back into space. These elements, forged in the star's core, are incorporated into future stars and planets. Supernova remnant SNR 0103-72.6, seen here in a false-color X-ray image, is such an expanding debris cloud in the Small Magellanic Cloud. The size of its outer ring suggests it exploded about 10,000 years ago.
