Inside the Eagle Nebula
From afar, the Eagle Nebula looks like a giant bird. A closer look, however, shows the bright region is a window into the center of a larger dark shell of dust. Through this window, a brightly lit workshop appears where an entire open cluster of stars is forming. Tall pillars and round globules of dark dust and cold molecular gas remain in this cavity, where stars are still forming. Several young, bright blue stars are already visible, their light and winds burning away the surrounding gas.
In tropical astrology, 21 SEP 2003 falls under Virgo (♍). The sign's window runs from 08-23 through 09-22. Virgo is the largest zodiac constellation, holding the heart of the Virgo galaxy cluster. The Sun was crossing this region of the sky on 21 SEP 2003.
