COSMIC MESSAGE

A solar flare and coronal mass ejection on October 28, 2003, sent high-energy particles toward Earth. The next day, these particles collided with Earth's magnetosphere, creating a vivid auroral display. This photograph, taken from Colorado, captures the unusual sight of aurorae in the southern United States. While not a common occurrence so far south, these light shows are a direct result of the Sun's activity.
