POX 186 is a dwarf galaxy, only about 68 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo. This Hubble Space Telescope image shows its relatively small size compared to our Milky Way. It spans about 900 light-years across and contains roughly 10 million stars, a fraction of our galaxy's size and star count. It is a nearby example of a smaller galactic island.
