See it on NASA's siteThe 1999 Leonids Meteor Shower reached an impressive peak for observers in Europe. Around 0210 UTC on November 18, meteor counts exceeded 1000 per hour, classifying it as a true meteor storm. At other times and locations, observers reported between 30 and 100 meteors per hour. This photograph is a 20-minute exposure ending just before the peak.
