Dust Sculptures in the Rosette Nebula

NASA APOD · Ken Crawford (Rancho Del Sol Observatory)
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Rosette Nebula, also known as NGC 2244, is known for its overall beauty. But parts of it, when viewed up close, show intricate structures. These are globules of dark dust and gas, slowly being eroded by the energetic light and winds from nearby massive stars. If left undisturbed, these molecular cloud globules would likely form stars and planets.
