A Twisted Meteor Train

NASA APOD · Jimmy Westlake (Colorado Mountain College)
COSMIC MESSAGE

Meteors usually burn up in the atmosphere in a straight line. This one, photographed over the Netherlands, left a twisting, turning path behind it. Scientists think that some meteors, especially those that aren't perfectly spherical, can burn unevenly, causing them to corkscrew as they fall. Twisted meteor trains are rare, and even more rarely photographed.
