Barnard's Loop Around Orion

NASA APOD · W. H. Wang
COSMIC MESSAGE

Barnard's Loop is a vast arc of glowing gas that stretches across the constellation Orion. This faint emission nebula, discovered on photographic plates, encircles many of Orion's bright stars. Its exact origin is still debated, but it may be a remnant of ancient supernovae or stellar winds from massive stars.
