Our Sun resides in the disk of the Milky Way Galaxy, along with most other bright stars. This panoramic image shows a northern band of the Milky Way's disk. It is a mosaic of several exposures, revealing bright stars, dark dust lanes, red emission nebulae, and blue reflection nebulae.
