Thirteen seconds after impact, the Deep Impact spacecraft's probe has just blasted into Comet Tempel 1. The image shows the expanding cloud of vaporized material from the impactor. This was part of a series of frames from the high-resolution camera on the flyby spacecraft. Tempel 1's nucleus is shaped like a potato and is about five kilometers across.
