The M-V-6 rocket launched the Astro-E2 observatory with a perfect ascent. This dramatic picture was taken at the Uchinoura Space Center. Astro-E2 is a reflight of the Astro-E payload, which was lost in a launch failure in 2000. The satellite's innovative instruments are now being checked out in Earth orbit to explore the Universe.
