Sunrise Over Kilimanjaro

NASA APOD · Clayton Hogen-Chin (U. Minnesota)
COSMIC MESSAGE

At 6 AM, hikers on Mt. Kilimanjaro witnessed a sunrise that made the sky glow red. This spectacular color is caused by sunlight scattering off the atmosphere and small cloud particles. If all the scattered light that makes the sky blue were added back, the sunrise would appear white, like the Sun.
