A Dust Cloud in NGC 281

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Stars create intricate dust sculptures from the dense, dark molecular clouds where they are born. They use high-energy light and fast stellar winds to carve these works. The heat they generate evaporates dark molecular dust and causes ambient hydrogen gas to disperse and glow red. This image shows a new open cluster of stars, IC 1590, forming around the interstellar mountain NGC 281.
