NASA APOD · Steve Mandel (Galaxy Images)
COSMIC MESSAGE

Alpha Cam is a runaway star, moving rapidly through interstellar space at over 60 kilometers per second. Like a ship, it creates an arcing bow shock, compressing the material in its path. This massive star is about 25 to 30 times the Sun's mass and 500,000 times brighter, located about 4,000 light-years away.
