Martian Analemma

NASA APOD · Dennis Mammana (Skyscapes)
COSMIC MESSAGE

If you track the Sun's position in the sky at the same time each day for a year, it makes a figure eight here on Earth. This is called an analemma. On Mars, because of its different orbit, the analemma would be a stretched pear shape. This illustration uses data from the Mars Pathfinder project to show what it would look like from the surface of Mars.
