Moon Over Andromeda

NASA APOD · Adam Block and Tim Puckett
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Andromeda Galaxy, M31, is the closest large spiral galaxy to our Milky Way. It is 2.5 million light-years away, but you can see it with your unaided eye as a faint smudge. This composite image shows how large Andromeda appears in our sky compared to the Moon, which is much closer.
